Shabby chic card with handmade flowers

Namaste Everyone!!

It's Kriti here sharing a mixed Media card with some handmade flowers. This is an inspiration post for our ongoing challenge Blooms Magic at Rainbow Craftykari blog. I made this card after getting inspiration from a quote "  Life holds special magic for those who dare to dream". A Sneak peak

I have used Fairyland collection from Papericious. These papers are gorgeous with lots of flowers, fairies, butterflies and few sheets of die- cuts and sentiments.

I took an ivory cardstock of size 6" x 4.5 ". Then took two beautiful contrast papers from the pack, distressed the edges and layered onto the cardstock. After that fussy cut some butterflies, leaves, flower and a fairy. Also put a sentiment from the sheet matching the theme of the card.

Now the best part, I made some handmade flowers also to embellish the card. Have a look...

I have a tutorial for you all for these simple yet elegant flowers.

Tutorial for Flower

1.Cut a circle from a paper. starting at the outside edge, cut a spiral towards the centre. Slightly zig- zag the edges will create a more natural looking flower.

2. Beginning from the outside, tightly wrap the paper, rolling towards the centre.

3. Next release the coil so that it will grow.

4. When you get to the end, you will have a little round part.Put a little glue on it and press to adhere the coiled paper. Aren't these paper roses are cute.

I made these to embellish my card but they can be used for so many things! Also cut two leaves with Prima dies to make these flowers a complete look.

Here is the final card

Some close-ups

I hope you like my card...will meet you all soon with a new project

DIY Gift Envelopes by Kriti Mishra

Namaste Friends!!

Today I am here with a DIY project with a tutorial.

So, what do you do with all your scraps of patterned papers? I always try and utilize them for something good, useful and pretty.

This time I have used Splashing Colours by Nakshathra designz.

1. Cut a few 4” circles from the patterned papers. You will need four circles per envelope. I have used circle die to cut the circles.

 2. Fold the circles in half using your bone folder.

3. Adhere the circles together. Position the first circle with the straight edge on the left. Place another circle at the top and make sure the edges are straight, then adhere then together on the inside. Repeat with all four circles.

4. Make sure that you only apply adhesive to the area that will not be visible. Once adhered together your envelope will look something like this.

5. Wrap a piece of pattern paper around the envelope. Adhere it with glue to hold it in place.
Voila its ready!! Have a final look.

They are so quick and easy to make and can be used as small envelopes, thank you cards, birthday invitations and more.

I hope you like this project.

Mixed media tag

Namaste Friends!!
Today I am sharing a mixed media tag using paper from Vintage Melange from my DT kit.
Mixed media is all about fun techniques, but also using different textures and materials. I had combined many different mediums including, stamps, texture paste, laces, flower etc. This project can be used to create a fabulous accent to any gift!
Have a look,

Some close-ups of the depth and texture of the tag. Notice the nice contrasting colours and texture that add interest.

Now tag is ready to use as gift tag, decorative tag, or other item.  Mixed Media Art Tags are a great way to use your scraps and experiment with colour schemes.

Happy crafting

A Memory Book, a perfect way to cherish the memories. Today I have a designed a memory book, a gift from a daughter to her parents.

She doesn’t need a special day to say "Thank You" to her mom and dad. So, she just said "Mom and dad, I grew up cocooned in your love, comforted by your hugs and motivated by your lives… and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Thanks for everything."

I have used Vintage Melange  paper pack from my DT kit , papers are really gorgeous.

So, here is the album

Pop up card

Namaste friends!!
Today I would like to share a pop up card with a tutorial. I have used Scintillating Mandalas paper pack from my DT kit and sentiment is from the Chalkboard Wonders. So, here is the card.

 It opens up like this

Now. enjoy the tutorial.

1. Take three pieces of cardstock, of sizes 20 cm x 10 cm, 26 cm X 9 cm and 30 cm x10 cm.

2. Take a first piece of card stock measuring 20 cm X 9 cm  and score this length ways at 4.5 cm.
Make a pencil mark at 5.5 cm on all 4 sides. Score a cross joining these points.
Then fold to form this mountain like shape.

3. Take another piece of card that measures 26 cm x 9 cm and score at 6.5 cm, 13 cm and 19.5 cm, this is the middle of your card and should look like a 'W' when folded.

4. Take another piece of cardstock measures 30 cm x 10 cm, score at 15 cm down the centre.

5. Apply glue to one side of the pointed ends, find the centre of the outer card and line the point up just under the crease and stick down, now apply glue to the other side of the pointed end and close the card to adhere it to the outer card.

6. Now take the 'W' shaped card, find the centre of the mechanism, and place it. Now, put glue at two place as shown in pic and adhere the 'W' shaped card.
